Geo Ex provided design services to modify a typical phosphorus treatment trench to work on a sloped site with up to 11% grade.
Construction services included treatment trench subgrade preparation, backfill with approved sand filter media, and trenching across a slope with installation of tightlines/settling basin.
GeoEx was the first contractor to successfully install a road side parking phosphorous treatment system that meets all new requirements for stormwater treatment in the Lake Whatcom Watershed and Sudden Valley.
This project had it all! Massive stumps, steep slopes, variable bedrock conditions, and structural fill pads.
Geo Ex provided design phase services including a subsurface investigation to determine depth to bedrock in the proposed building area and provide general foundation design parameters.
Construction phase work included tree and stump removal, foundation dig out for the house, and general grading of a parking area. The foundation dig out also required rock breaking to bench into coherent sandstone where the footings were to be located.
Due to the highly variable depth to bedrock on other areas of the site, we recommend installation of a structural fill pad to support the garage foundation. Excavation included benching into the natural slope to suitable native subgrade and then backfilling with compacted import fill to provide a structural pad to support a thickened edge slab for the garage foundation.
Final touches included re-using native soils to form a large berm for future landscaping.
